Rats that are available for adoption under 9 weeks of age will be posted on this page.
A rat(s) can be reserved for you but may require a deposit if you have not adopted from Lavender Haven before. Unless a buyer has same sex ratties already at home it will be required that rats are placed in same sex pairs. Please review our Adoption Survey, provide your answers and reply by email.
Anyone 18 or younger will require written and verbal permission from their parents or guardians.
If you are a breeder, please let us know so that appropriate breeding registered rats and contract are placed with you. Lavender Haven reserves the right to deny breeder registered rats at any time to anyone.
When we have rats available, we go through the requests you send in to find homes for them. Requests are considered on a first come basis. So, please let us know what you are looking for and if it is available in current litters, we will let you know.
We do not sell to pet stores or for feeders, nor cull healthy babies, and all sales/adoptions require a signed agreement and verbal confirmation by phone. Shipping is not common but in certain circumstances can be arranged at cost of the buyer.
All rats here at Lavender Haven are registered with the North American Rat Registry (NARR). This is done at no cost to you. The NARR is a database used to help breeders and pet owners keep better track of rats, their pedigrees, health and temperment.
Each litter is given a "theme" so that we can keep a better track of whom is from which litter. For example.. "LH Minestrone" from the The Italian Favorites Litter. LH is our prefix as a breeder. All rats placed in pet homes will begin their names with "LH Pet ..." This is done to be able to recognize breeder placed rats and pet placed ratties. You may call your rattie anything you like, but the NARR registered name will contain our prefix and a name within the theme of the litter.
