Health and Temperament

We feel that it is very important to state the exact facts about every rat here at Lavender Haven. It is crucial for the data base of the NARR Registry for all health and temperament information to be listed. As you browse through the site make sure to check out the bottom of every rattie's page for "Health/Temperament Notes." If an rat has had an illness or temperament problem it will be listed here. The reason we include this is so that as you are deciding on your new pet you are fully informed. We believe that too many ratteries are so concerned about having a perfect rattery that they do not mention any problems (Health or Temperament) that have occurred. We believe in breeding the whole rat. This is not only how they look (Type) but Health and Temperament as just as important. You are able to check out the prospective parents and their relatives.

Closed Rattery to the Public

Lavender Haven is a closed rattery to the public. Unfortunately due to the deadly and dangerous diseases that affect rats, we are not willing to take the chance of infecting our rattery by allowing people to enter. The majority of rat diseases are airborne and can be carried from one place to another on people's hand and clothes. Anytime someone goes to a pet store and then comes in contact with their own or someone's rats they are taking a chance of infection. We understand that for the average pet owner, it can be very exciting to get to see your baby rat. BUT, We would hope that you would always keep their health in mind and respect our decision. We will keep the pictures of available litters and ratties as up to date as possible. Always feel free to contact us for baby updates. Thanks for understanding.
