"Weiza" was a pet store rescue.We do not normally participate in rescuing ratties from pet stores. As sad as it sounds, by purchasing rats from pet stores, it shows the suppliers their product is selling well. I was in a pet store purchasing supplies and saw her bleeding in a 10 gallon aquarium with 20 more rats.They were not being fed properly and had resorted to cannibalism. As an adult feeder rat she had never been socialized with people, I took her home, nursed her back to health and lived to a ripe old age of 3.5 years old. "Weiza" taught us a lot about animals and their trusting nature. She was part of our family. Finally her quality of life had diminished and she was humanely euthanized.
